Three killed, three injured in encounter

Imphal, May 5 : Three people were killed and three others including two security personnel, injured in an encounter at Churachandpur District last evening.

Police said an encounter, between the suspected militants and Assam Rifles personnel at Churachandpur, began last night and continued for a few hours. Till late at night, operations were on to nab the militants.

The Assam Rifles said that all the dead were militants. Senior officials have rushed to the district to assess the situation.

Meanwhile, the SP of Imphal East informed that a cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) was nabbed during an operation.
