Special camp for Narmada dam oustees

Bhopal, May 5 : Special camps are being organised in Jhabua, Barwani, Dhar and Khargone districts in western Madhya Pradesh to redress the rehabilitation problems of the families affected by raising the height of Sardar Sarovar dam on the Narmada river.

A total of 149 villages will be partially affected though temporarily and another 28 villages affected partially but permanently, when the dam's height will be raised to 121.92 metres, official sources said today.

Special rehabilitation package had already been provided to 177 displaced families of these villages, the sources said.

At the camps to be attended by Sub-Divisional Officer and other revenue officials, the dam affected people could register their complaints in prescribed forms. While trying to solve the problems as far as possible on the spot, the complaints, if necessary, will also be inquired into, the sources added.
