New Delhi, May 5 (UNI) Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee has expressed grief over the passing away of legendary music director Naushad, who died in Mumbai this morning.

''One of India's great music composers, Naushad's unique compositions reflected deep-rooted secular traditions and pluralistic culture in all respects, he said in a message from Isle of Man, where he is attending a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.

''Naushadji has created and estabilished a culture through unique combination of folk and classical music on one hand and Hindustani and Western music on the other. The void created in the Indian Film industry with his passing away is difficult to fill,'' he added.

Mr Chatterjee conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family.
