Monitoring committee on sealing submits report ot SC
New Delhi, May 5 (UNI) The Supreme Court appointed monitoring committee overseeing the ongoing sealing of commercial establishments operating from the residential areas in Delhi today submitted its report to the apex Court in a sealed cover.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Y K Sabharwal and Mr Justice C K Thakker adjourned till May 11 the hearing of the case including the application of the Centre seeking six months' moratorium on the ongoing sealing process in the national capital for identifying the areas where mixed land use can be permitted.
Under intense pressure from the traders lobby the Union government is actively considering to bring a law to protect those indulging in the misuse of residential premises.
The monitoring committee headed by Bhure Lal had held meeting with Residents Welfare Associations (RWAs) on May 2, 2006 and other concerned parties. Mr K J Rao, credited with conducting free and fair elections in Bihar is another member of the monitoring committee.
The court directed the monitoring committee to supply a copy of the report to other parties in the case.
