Mahajan's ashes to be immersed in holy rivers across country
New Delhi, May 5: The ashes of BJP general secretary Pramod Mahajan will be immersed in major rivers of the country.
BJP sources said the Urns containing ashes of Mahajan were collected by his son Rahul, brother-in-law and senior party leader Gopinath Munde from the Shivaji Park cremation ground.
The family immersed part of the ashes at Banganga near Mumbai and two parts will be immersed at Mehboob Nagar, in Andhra Pradesh and Nashik on Monday.
The remaining ashes will be later taken for immersion to Hardwar, Varanasi, Prayag and Asom in the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswati and Brahmaputra.
Party leaders said while one urn had been kept at BJP office in Mumbai and another would be kept in Delhi and other offices for party workers and other people to pay their last respects.
Mahajan succumbed to injuries on Wednesday evening after being shot at by his brother Pravin at his Worli residence on April 22.
