'I did not talk of third front': Naidu
Vijayawada, May 5 (UNI) TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu today mooted a proposal for the formation of a front comprising secular parties at the national level as an alternative to the Congress and the BJP.
Talking to reporters here, he denied having talked of a 'third front' as an alternative to the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) regime at the Centre.
Charging the Congress with being a 'corrupt' party, he said party president Sonia Gandhi said she was contesting the by-election to the Lok Sabha from Rai Bareli only to protect moral values. What was the meaning of her statement when she had resigned her Lok Sabha seat knowing full well that she would be disqualified by the President on the recommendation of the Election Commission, he asked.
Mr Naidu said the Congress had even thought of bringing in an amendment on twin posts to save Ms Gandhi. The party should have thought of the amendment before disqualifying Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha member Jaya Bachchan, he said.
The Congress was misusing the role of the Governor despite having only 146 seats in the Lok Sabha, he said.
The BJP was talking on construction of the Ram Temple without waiting for the verdict of the Supreme Court, he said, adding, 'We are for secularism and not for power.' UNI CS AA AD KN1430
