Henkel India to undertake SHEQ audit
Chennai, May 5 (UNI) Henkel India, leading FMCG major, becomes the first Indian company to undertake the SHEQ audit (Safety, health, Environment and Quality), an internal audit by Henkel Global headquarters which is based on stringent quality standards. The Henkel SHEQ Standards were important building blocks in the implementation of their sustainability strategy.
They detailed the requirements of the Code of Corporate Sustainability in the areas of Safety, Health and Environmental Protection. This year, the SHEQ Audit has been implemented at all levels in the Henkel India corporate office to assess quality standards, Martin Krepart, Head-SHEQ, Asia Pacific told newspersons here today.
Mr Krepart said in its endevour to achieve sustainability leadership postion, Henkel had spearheded various sustainability performance initiatives to build a strong corporate brand for Henkel. Some of them being voluntary corporate sustainability or Triple Bottom Line Reporting, eco efficiency and cleaner production strategies, Environmental Management Systems (EMS), life cycle assessment techniques, environmental management accounting, among others.
Henkel had also installed and maintained management systems for continual improvement and taken up specific targeted activities to make the employees aware of their obligations through suitable training and communication.
Henkel is one of the first ever companies worldwide to have a dedicated Sustainability Council consisting of members drawn from the entire Group. Chaired by the Chief Technology Officer, Research&Technology, it steers global activities in colloboration with the regional and national companies, the operative business sectors and the corporate functions, he added.
He said Henkel's internal SHEQ audit parameters which are more stringent than those quality and management audits prevalent in the industry, aiming at raising the standards in safety, quality and health and to document the progress made by the company in implementing the international standards set by the Henkel Group, worldwide to achieve business excellence towards corporate sustainability.
