Heatwave claims 14 lives in UP
Lucknow, May 5 (UNI) Following the death of three people in the last 24 hrs, the toll due to intense heatwave conditions in Uttar Pradesh today rose to 14.
The fresh deaths were reported from Mahoba, Agra and Ferozabad.
The arrival of tourists at the world famous Taj Mahal monument has also plummeted of late due to the scorching mercury levels.
Tourists find it rather difficult to walk barefoot on marble under the blazing sun.
So far, six people have been reported dead in Agra due to heatwave. According to weatherman, no respite is likely in the coming days too.
Meanwhile, Jhansi recorded the maximum temperature of 44 degree Celsius in the last 24 hrs in the state, which was two degree above normal. The state capital recorded 42 (+2) degrees.
The Bundelkhand region in Utter Pradesh continued to swelter.
At least six people have so far succumbed to heatwave in the Mahoba district of Bundelkhand.
