HAL trounces Vasco 1-0

Bangalore, May 5 (UNI) Hindustan Aeronautics Sports Club (HAL) trounced Vasco Sports Club 1-0 in the Final Round of the Second Division ONGC Cup 10th National Football League here today.

After both the teams drew a blank in the first half, HAL skipper A Xavier Vijay Kumar opened the account scoring the all important goal, encashing on a pass from mid-fielder Zenith Mashangva in the 50th minute.

The winners could have increased the lead, but for Zenith missing as many as three chances.

Vasco failed to rise to the occasion and concentrated more on defence, rather than scoring.

With this win, HAL has taken its points tally to six from four matches with two wins, while Vasco remained at the bottom with one point from equal number of matches.
