Extra vigil at railway stations
Jalandhar, May 5 (UNI) The Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Punjab Police will maintaining extra vigil at the railway stations, including Jalandhar, following a threat received at the railway station here.
A GRP spokesman said here today that the letter, written in Hindi on an inland letter, was posted to Jalandhar city station superintendent, threatening to blow off Jalandhar railway station, Devi Talab Temple here, Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar and Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra Jammu.
He said the letter written by one Karim Ansari of Jammu had been posted from nearby town of Phagwara and had threatened that the above mentioned places would be blown off on May 12 this year.
He said the a general alert had been sounded at the railway stations and all precautionary measures are being taken with the help of local police and other security agencies of the state.
Senior Superintendent of Police Ishwar Singh said though the threat letter appeared to be a bogus one police had taken it very seriously, probing in the matter sincerely and taking all possible precautionary steps.
