Cabinet Secretary lauds Surat's development work

New Delhi, May 5 (UNI) The urban development works, being carried out by the Municipal Administration in Surat, once notorious for its filthy garbage and shabby roads, today came out for praise from Union Cabinet Secretary B K Chaturvedi.

Mr Chaturvedi, who was shown a presentation on the ongoing projects of urban governance and innovations in Surat, including roads, flyovers, street lighting, health services and e-governance, later directed senior officers of the Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT) to prepare a documentation of the city as a development module.

''The documentation of Surat should be prepared and circulated to all major cities in the country for the implementation of developmental projects,'' the Cabinet Secretary said.

Gujarat Princial Resident Commissioner R L Meena and Surat Municial Commissioner Pankaj Joshi were present at the meeting.

Mr Joshi made a presentation on urban development of Surat before the Cabinet Secretary and other senior officials, highlighting e-governance, people's participation in development works and health services.
