BEL fixes USD 24 million export

Machilipatnam, May 5: Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a public sector firm, has fixed its export target at US Dollar 24 million during 2006-2007, as against $ 13.58 in the last fiscal, said Mr Amarendra, Additional General Manager (Corporate), here today.

Export of precision electro-mechanical sub-systems, general electronic medical systems and print contract manufacture of satellite radios for the US market formed a major share, he said.

Electronic components were exported to Singapore, US, UK, Hong Kong and communication equipment to Surinam and Botswana. Other major supplies included satellite communication network equipment to Nigeria, Radar sub-systems to Indonesia and night vision devices and laser finders to Surinam and Israel respectively, Mr Amarendra added.

BEL manufactured solar products for the domestic market too. BEL supplied solar house lighting systems to Tripura, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu and solar-based power plants to Rajasthan during the last fiscal, he claimed.

Mr Amarendra stated that the company had patent rights for the invention of solar traffic signalling system.
