BDO sent to jail in IAY scam

Samastipur, May 5 (UNI) Chief Judicial Magistrate of Samastipur R K Tiwari today awarded judicial custody to Block Development Officer Harihar Prasad of Bairgania in connection with a scam in the Indira Awas Yojana (IAY).

Soon after the judgement, Prasad was sent to jail.

A special team of the Samastipur police had arrested Prasad from Bairgania and produced him before the CJM yesterday.

According to police, the BDO was found guilty of severe irregularities, including in the IAY scam, in the Khanpur block of the district. A case was registered at Khanpur police station last year.

Prasad was posted at Khanpur during the unprecedented floods in 2004 and was later transferred to Bairgania.
