'Afsos Ham Na Honge'
New Delhi, May 5 (UNI) Yeh Zindagi Ke Mele Duniya Mein Kam Na Honge, Afsos Ham Na Hongein-- the joys of life will remain, alas I won't.
Naushad Ali hummed that song when Lyricist Shakeel Badayuni died in 1970 and singer Mohammad Rafi died in 1980.
It was an early creation of the three artistes, who later became a team that gave the Hindi film industry some of its most memorable songs.
The song made the Dilip-Nargis starrer Mela a major success of the 1940s and has since assumed the proportions of one of the eternal truths about life.
The death of this doyen among India's legendary music makers left one of his ardent fans without words. Tears rolled down Dilip Kumar's eyes as he came to mourn the loss, a report said.
