Wildlife elephants kill one person
Kohima, May 04 (UNI) A herd of wild elephants, which has entered into Yamhon village under Wokha district of Nagaland from Asom side, has killed a youth and destroyed the paddy fields in the village.
According to delayed official report received here today the wild elephant herd had entered the village and destroyed the paddy fields and other cultivations. On hearing the destruction of the wild elephants, a group of young boys went to the area to assess the extent of damage on Monday last, but suddenly they were attacked by the herd of elephants killing one Mhonbemo Lotha on the spot.
The others, however, managed to escape. The villagers later recovered the body of the victim and handed it over to the relatives for the last rites.
