Rupee opens three paise at 44.89/91 per USD

Mumbai, May 4: The rupee opened three paise weaker this morning at 44.89/91 per US dollar as compared to the last close of 44.86/88 per US dollar.

Rupee weakened to 44.95/96 in the mid-morning session while in the stock markets, the Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive Index (Sensex) was up by more than 100 points at 12,413 points.

The crude oil prices softened to USD 72.11 plus per barrel which however did not support the rupee much.
