Rajasthan creates task force to preserve rare manuscripts
Jaipur, May 4 (UNI) Rajasthan has constituted a special task force to preserve rare manuscripts, which need immediate attention.
The task force would undertake a survey to identify and document the manuscripts which are lying unattended in the state. The survey is likely to wrap up by June end.
National Mission for Manuscripts and Director Archives would aid the surveyors. Experts say about eight lakh manuscripts are lying in the state in various temples, mosques and churches, which cannot conserve them properly. Even individuals own age-old and priceless manuscripts that need care.
The mission would take the manuscripts but would hand them back to owners after proper treatment which will help preserve them.
