Mukhi bats for autorickshaw drivers

New Delhi, May 4 (UNI) A rule asking autorickshaw, taxi and three wheeler cargo drivers to bring their PAN cards and state bank account numbers during vehicle fitness tests should be done away with, Delhi's main opposition BJP said today.

The BJP will organise a strike by the affected drivers unless the measure -- also essential for transfer of vehicle -- was withdrawn immediately, leader of the opposition Jagdish Mukhi said in a letter to Transport Minister Haroon Yusuf.

Already the drivers had just 5-7 hours to earn their livelihood due to the restriction on cargo movement in the city, he said, accusing the department of erecting further problems for them through new rules.
