Meet on RTI Act on May 8

Hyderabad, May 4 (UNI) A national conference on Right to Information Act (RTI Act) will be held here on May eight.

Jointly organised by the Centre for Media Studies (CMS) and Administrative Staff College of India, the meet will be attended among others by Chief Information Commissioners of eight states besides Central Information Commissioners, a CMS release said.

The participating states are Maharashtra, Karnataka, Orissa, Punjab, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Andhra Pradesh.

This is the first time that such a large number of recently appointed Commissioners under the RTI Act would be interacting with a cross section of civil society activists, including print and electronic media, on a single platform.

The conference would also be attended by those who played a key role in formulating the legislation including Prof Shekhar Singh and Ajit Bhattacharjee.
