Kanpur IITian commits suicide
Kanpur, May 4 (UNI) Peeved over his failure, a final year student of IIT Kanpur committed suicide, police said today.
Shailesh Sharma, who failed third time in a row in his Advanced Thermodynamics paper, hanged himself in his room yesterday, according to SSP city Premchandra Meena.
Shailesh was a Chemical Engineering student in the Dual Degree programme.
IIT sources also said the failure could be the probable reason behind the suicide.
Shailesh became the fifth student of the Kanpur IIT to take the extreme step. Earlier, similar incidents have occurred in 1981, 1987, 1991 and the latest on November 30 last year when second year student, Dharasker Swapnil Chandrakant ended his life.
