JBIC Governor visits Delhi Metro

New Delhi, May 4 (UNI) Japan Bank of International Cooperation Governor Kyosuke Shinozawa today visited the Delhi Metro facility along with a delegation from the organisation.

They spent about an hour on the Delhi Metro and travelled from Central Secretariat to Rajiv Chowk and back, a Delhi Metro Rail Corp statement said.

The delegation was briefed about the Delhi Metro project by DMRC Managing Director E Sreedharan.

The Governor was impressed with the facility and wished Delhi Metro all the best for the future.

JBIC had provided 60 per cent of the cost for the construction of Phase-I of the Delhi Metro in the form of soft loans.

For the second phase, JBIC had agreed to provide 48 per cent of the estimated cost of Rs 8,182 crore as soft loans.

Phase-II of the Delhi Metro would cover areas such as Dilshad Garden, New Ashok Nagar, Jahangirpuri, Mundka and IIT.

The Metro was also being extended to Noida for which the cost of construction would be borne by the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority.
