GRP's arm looted in passenger train
Purulia, May 3: A gang of armed criminals looted a stengun from a jawan of Government Railway Police near Pundagh Railway Station in Adra Division of South Eastern Railway tonight.
Four jawans of the GRP were travelling by the 614 Up-Hatia to Dhanbad Passenger, when the criminals after snatching a carbine detrained near a station and fled into a nearby jungle.
Superintendent of Police, Purulia, Rangaswamy Shivkumar admitted the fact and said that a red alert has been clamped in the district including bordering areas of Jharkhand state.
Combing operation was launched by the GRP and state police.
Police suspect that the naxalites might be involved in the gun snatching.
