Four MDMK functionaries join DMK

Chennai, May 4 (UNI) Four MDMK functionaries, including a close friend of party general secretary Vaiko today quit the party and joined the DMK in the presence of its president M Karunanidhi.

The group, led by MDMK state propaganda secretary Ganesan, belonging to Kovilpatti assembly constituency in Tuticorin district, joined the DMK at the party headquarters 'Anna Arivalayam' here.

Mr Vaiko's friend Sithaiah Srinivasan, businessman Kushboo Kannan and Anna Nagar G Krishnasamy were the others to join the DMK, a DMK release here said.

Meanwhile, various Viswakarma Social Welfare Associations have extended their support to the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance in the May eight Assembly elections.

Representatives of the associations called on Mr Karunanidhi at 'Anna Arivalayam' and pledged their support.

The National Small Matchbox Manufacturers Association also pledged its support to the DMK front in the elections, the release added.
