E C makes massive security arrangement for vote counting process

Guwahati, May 4 (UNI) The Election Commission has made elaborate security arrangement in consultation with the concerned state government departments for the counting of votes in Asom on May 11.

State CEO J P Prakash today informed that deployment of security personnel and other security-related arrangements in and around 48 counting halls in the state were being done after assessing the requirements of every centre.

There will be a 'no vehicle zone' near every counting hall, while mobile phones will not be permitted and nobody without a valid photo indentity card will be allowed inside the counting hall campus.

Everyone, including media persons, entitled to enter the counting hall campus will be frisked and subjected to metal detector scan.

The Returning Officer and Additional Returning Officer-in-charge of a counting hall will also be held responsible for maintenance of law and order within the counting hall area.

Each of the counting halls will be manned by an Observer from the Election Commission. Counting process in all the halls located in 126-legislative assembly constituencies will start at 0800 hrs on May 11 and the first trend will be made available within an hour, and be regularly updated every 30 minutes .
