Cut-throats killed in encounter
Amalapuram, Andhra Pradesh, May 4: Three persons, charged with cases of murder and robbery ,were gunned down by the police when they tried to escape,here yesterday.
According to the police, the encounter occured when the accused tried to escape after snatching the rifles of the escorting policemen when they were being taken to the magistrate court here.
The police said the three robbed and killed B Suryakantam(82) of this town on January 26 and V Padmini Usha Chaya Suryamani(43) of Eedarapalli village near here on February 18 by slitting their throats for ornaments. They were arrested on May two,the police added.
The dead were identified as R Murali Mohan (24), D Durga Prasad (19) and R Dharma Rao (21). A Sub Inspector and two Constables were injured in the encounter,the police said
