Centre's decrease in food grain allotments hits Mizoram
Aizawl, May 4 (UNI) Food and Civil Supplies and Consumers Affairs Minister K Sangthuama today claimed that the Centre's sudden decision to decrease foodgrain allotment by more than 50 per cent, has hit the state badly.
Talking to the mediapersons here, the minister said, ''We will stockpile rice grain till August 2006 which will be a total amount of 12,230 metric tonnes,'' he said adding that otherwise it would be difficult to meet the current demand of rice.
Sangthuama said he would visit Delhi before June 10 to discuss the matter with the Centre.
Meanwhile, alarmed over the sudden decrease in allotment of foodgrains, Chief Minister Zoramthanga had sent an urgent fax message in this regard and requested the Union government to increase the foodgrain allotment.
