Central forces for last phase elections in North Bengal

Siliguri, May 4 (UNI) Security has been beefed up in six districts of North Bengal which will go to the polls in the fifth and final phase of the assembly elections on May 8.

About 289 companies of para military force have already reached here to take charge of all vital installations and polling stations areas here, official sources said today.

The jawans would start moving to their destinations from tomorrow.

Punjab State Armed Police, Haryana State Armed Police and CRPF jawans will be deployed in and around Siliguri, the sources added.

Besides these, para militatry forces of Border Security Force (BSF) Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Eastern Frointer Rifles (EFR) and the Railway Reserve Force (RPF) will also be deployed here.

Another 114 companies of para military force will be deployed in neighbouring Coochbehar. Another 105 companies of central forces for Jalpaiguri district, they said.
