Beleaguered ASDC suffers split
Diphu, May 4 (UNI) The Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) suffered a set back with estranged party MLAs Dharamsing Teron, Jogotsing Ingti and MACs Jotson Bey and Elwin Teron announcing formation of a new party.
Addressing a news conference here today, these leaders said, ''the new party will be more vigorous and capable of fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Karbi Anglong. '' They also said permanent solution to the vexed ultra problem would be the main agenda of the new party.
The leaders claimed that Sixth Schedule was ineffective in Karbi Anglong and attempts to find solution to the problem within the parameter of the Schedule seemed incongruent.
The leaders had earlier made vitriolic attack against the present leadership of Holiram Terang and Chomang Kro and squarely blamed them for the declining popularity of the ASDC.
