World Bank honours Samuel Paul
Bangalore, May 3 (UNI) Dr Samuel Paul, Founder-Chairman of Public Affairs Centre (PAC) here, was conferred with the World Bank's Gill Memorial Award 2006 for his outstanding public service.
The award was presented to him at a function in Washington last week, a PAC release here said today.
The new international award was established recently to recognise the contributions of distinguished leaders from all parts of the world.
The first civil society leader and Asian to receive the award, Dr Paul was honoured for his pioneering and innovative ideas such as the ''citizen report card'' on public services.
Dr Paul had established the PAC in th city in 1994 in order to improve the quality of public governance in the country, the release added.
