Wanted gangster gunned down
Hardoi, May 3 (UNI) Police today gunned down a wanted criminal carrying a reward of Rs 2,500 on his head in an encounter here early today.
The slain gangster was identified as Harishchandra Yadav, who had nine cases of heinous crimes including murder registered against him.
Police superintendent Kashinath Singh said the police received a tip-off that some criminals were robbing highway passengers in Sursa area around 0200 hrs.
A squad led by Sursa police station officer Devendra Pandey rushed to the spot. Spotting the police personnel the criminals tried to flee, firing at them and in the ensuing encounter, Yadav was killed.
A countrymade gun and several cartridges were recovered from the spot.
