Violence post-Rajkumar death: over 700 arrested
Bangalore, May 3 (UNI) The city police have arrested over 700 people in connection with the violence unleashed in the city during the funeral procession of Kannada matinee idol Rajkumar recently in which eight people, including a police constable, lost their lives.
Informing this to reporters here today, City Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Singh said that immediately after the riots, the police had rounded off 1,500 people. After watching the video clippings taken during the riots, the police found that 742 of them were involved in it.
He also said that those involved in the lynching of the police constable had also been nabbed.
Mr Singh said a detailed report on the riots had been prepared and it would soon be submitted to Director and Inspector General of police B S Sialy, he added.
