TFA defeats Vasco 2-1; registers second win
Bangalore, May 3 (UNI) A superb brace by Vimal Pariyar enabled Tata Football Academy (TFA) to defeat Vasco Sports Club 2-1 in the Final Round of the Second Division ONGC Cup 10th National Football League here today.
At half time both the teams were locked 1-1.
Though the Goans succeeded in opening the account when striker Anthony Pereira netted the ball, encashing on a superb pass by Queterio Pango in the 19th minute, the team failed to maintain its tempo.
Pint-sized striker Pariyar, moving swiftly, first brought in the equaliser for TFA in the 40th minute and increased the lead by scoring a solo goal in the 53rd minute.
Pereira, who opened the account for his team, failed to utilise a couple of chances purely by not concentrating on aiming properly.
In the 65th minute, he missed a superb chance of equalising when he kicked the ball outside the post.
Vasco was poor at field understanding. TFA thus registered its second win to take its points tally to six from three matches, while Vasco had only one point from equal number of matches.
