Swamy demands action against two private channels
Chennai, May 3 (UNI) Janata Party Subramanian Swamy today demanded that Election Commision should take action againt the two private Tamil satellite channels SUN TV and Jaya TV for ''violation'' of its order that campaigning should not be done after 2200 hrs.
He told newsmen here the two television channels were telecasting election campaigning meetings of DMK and AIADMK leaders even after 2200 hrs in blatant violation of rules.
Prof Swamy said the EC should also add the amount incurred by DMK and the AIADMK for telecasting election advertisements in these channels to the candidates expenses. If this was done, it would come to light that the candidates of these parties had spent more than the Rs 10 lakhs allowed by the E C.
This would also attract disqualification from contesting the polls for six years, he added.
Predicting a hung assembly in the state, he reiterated that the BJP-Janata Party combine would play a crucial role in government formation after the May 8 elections.
