Purchase power from other states:YSR
Hyderabad, May 3 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajsekhara Reddy today directed the officials to purchase power from other states, if needed to meet the domestic demand.
He gave the direction at a review meeting with Energy Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir and officials when the latter pointed out that any power generation at the Nagarjunasagar hydel project would lead to wastage of water into the sea, an official release here said.
The officials said AP TRANSCO had been overdrawing power from central generating stations to the extent of 300 to 600 MW (4 to 7 million units) at a cost of Rs two crore per day.
The Chief Minister noted that the proposals for providing coal linkage from Mahanadi coal fields to the KTPS (1600 MW) and Kothagudem (500 MW) projects had been included in the agenda of the Union Government meeting scheduled to be held on May 11.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the two mega power projects of APGENCO -- 2100 MW combined cycle gas-based power station near Karimnagar and 2x800 MW supercritical thermal power project at Krishnapatnam.
