Policy change likely to benefit SME IT companies
Bangalore, May 3 (UNI) The Centre is likely to come out with changes in policies relating to Software Technology Parks of India and Special Economic Zone to benefit small and medium enterprises.
Announcing this at a press conference here, STPI-Bangalore Director B V Naidu said certain recommendations have been made to help the SMEs, who lose out to the big ones on economies of scale.
Benefits from the policies flow to the units in SEZ and STPI only when they clear certain criteria, including land holdings. Since the SMEs did not have the economies of scale to match bigger companies, they lose out, to counter which certain policy changes have been recommended to the Centre, he added.
However, he declined to divulge details, stating that they were being considered by the Union Government.
