No final decision on venues of World Cup semis, final: PCB
Lahore, May 3 (UNI) Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has clarified that no final decision has been taken so far as to which country of the Asian bloc will host the final and semifinals of the 2011 World Cup.
''We'll soon discuss this matter with the other co-host countries although in principle it's decided the final will be staged in Pakistan and semi-finals in India. The PCB would like the formula of 1996 edition to be applied again,'' he said.
In the 1996 tournament, hosted jointly by Pakistan and India with Sri Lanka as a minor partner, India hosted two quarter-finals and the semifinals while Pakistan organised two quarter-finals and the final at the Gaddafi Stadium here.
In 1987, when Pakistan and India jointly hosted the World Cup, India got the lion's share organising one semi-final and the final with Pakistan was given just one semi-final.
Shaharyar told reporters that the host countries would've to decide on the venues before July when the ICC holds it annual general meeting.
