Nepali among two sentenced under NDPS act
Patna, May 3 (UNI) A fast track court judge of Patna today awarded ten years' rigorous imprisonment each to two people, including a Nepali citizen, in a case of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) act.
Judge Krishan Mohan Srivastav also slapped a total fine of Rs 1.50 lakhs each against both the accused.
The judge found Nepali citizen Lok Raj Sharma and a resident of Punjab, Satbindar Singh, guilty of carrying and possessing a huge quantity of contraband hemp (Ganja).
According to the prosecution case, contraband hemp worth nearly Rs 18 lakh, was seized by the officials of revenue intelligance department from the possession of the convicts carrying it in a truck under Naubatpur police station area of Patna district on June 24, 2001. The consignment was en route to Kannouj from Silchar.
