Nedumaran protests over attacks on Tamils in Lanka

Chennai, May 3 (UNI) Over 150 activists of Tamil Nationalist Movement including its founder President P Nedumaran were taken into custody by police, when they attempted to take out a procession to the Office of the Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to condemn the attack on Tamils in the island nation.

Police said despite the refusal of police permission, Mr Nedumaran and others attempted to take out the procession and they were detained. However, all of them were released late this evening.

Mr Nedumaran told reporters that none of the political parties in Tamil Nadu had raised their voice even when several Tamils had been killed in the violence there.
