Lucknow, May 3 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav has expressed profound grief over the death of BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, saying it was an irrepairable loss to public life.
Describing him as an able politician and an expert organiser, Yadav said although Mahajan belonged to BJP, he was very popular among all other parties in the country.
The CM has expressed his heartfelt condolence to Mahajan's family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
A pensive atmosphere prevailed in UP BJP headquarters after the Mahajan's death, who breathed his last in Mumbai this evening.
State BJP chief Kesari Nath Tripathi said the death was a body blow to the party. ''He was a leader, who commanded respect from every worker and was very popular among the partymen.'' Meanwhile, BJP workers have started gathering at the state party office where a condolence meeting would be held late in the evening.
