MCOCA court extends Abu Salem's JC till May 11
Mumbai, May 3: The MCOCA Special court today extended till May 11, the Judicial custody of extradited underworld don Abu Salem and five others for their alleged involvement in the conspiracy of murder of Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala's Private Secretary Ajit Diwani in June 2001.
Salem and others were produced before MCOCA (Maharashtra Control for Organised Crime Act) court Judge Abhay Thipsay at Mazgaon court, this morning, who remanded them to Judicial Custody till May 11, this year.
One of the prime accused in the case Deepak Singh alias Dipu, whose was taken to Uttar Pradesh (UP) on transit remand by UP police was escaped from their custody, recently.
Other accused include, Upendra Singh, Hizamuddin Khan, Akhalesh Kumar Singh, Ayub Patel and Saheblal Giri.
Accused were booked under section 120 (b), 499, 302, 342, 506(II), 465, 468, 471 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 3,7 25(1)(a) of Arms act and 3 (1) (ii), 3(2), 3(3) and 3 (4) of MCOCA (Maharashtra Control for Organised Crime Act).
Aides of Salem had demanded extortion money from Ajit Diwani. He turned down their demand on which they had eliminated him on June 31, 2001 at Andheri.
