Many persons, cattle missing after dyke breach
Korba, May 3 (UNI) One person was feared buried alive while ten others and hundreds of heads of cattle went missing at Chhattisgarh's Dhanras village after an ash dyke caved in this morning near an NTPC plant close to this district town, eyewitnesses reported.
The fatality could not be officially confirmed. The slurry inundated a labourers' settlement including a school building.
Providentially, there were no students on account of the summer vacation, police said.
Amir Sai (55), who was working under the dyke, told UNI that his co-worker Bhatapara-resident Jagdish Dewangan (45) could not flee to safety.
Rescue operations were in full swing and state Agriculture Minister Nankiram Kanwar reached the spot.
