Italian president not to serve 2nd term - source
ROME, May 3 (Reuters) Italian President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, whose mandate expires this month, is not willing to serve a second term in office, a political source said today.
Parties across Italy's political spectrum had called on 85 year-old Ciampi to serve a second seven-year term.
Italy's parliament will gather on May 8 to begin elections for the new president whose first task will be to call on centre-left leader Romano Prodi to form a government. Prodi won April 9-10 national elections.
