India-Congo discuss bilateral cooperation in Mining sector
New Delhi, May 03 (UNI) The Democratic Republic of Congo today expressed desire for cooperation with India in prospecting, exploring and exploiting its mineral resources.
A high-level delegation from Congo, led by the country's Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Raymond Ramazani Baya, called on Minister for Mines Sis Ram Ola here and discussed bilateral issues in mining sector.
Mr Baya said Congo is rich with mineral resources like copper, cobalt, tin, diamond, gold, iron ore, manganese, coal and petroleum.
''The country looks forward to bilateral cooperation with India in prospecting, exploration and exploitation of its mineral resources, which is the mainstay of its economy,'' he said.
Mr Ola said that in view of the rich mineral potential of Congo and its interest in attracting investment, India would like to cooperate with them in mining sector.
He hoped that the delegation level talks would help identify areas of cooperation and carry forward bilateral cooperation programmes.
