Gurudas Dasgupta condoles Mahajan's death

Kolkata, May 3 (UNI) CPI leader in the Lok Sabha Gurudas Dasgupta condoled the ''untimely death'' of BJP leader Promod Mahajan today.

In a message, Mr Dasgupta recalled his close association with Mr Mahajan for long and said despite serious ideological differences, they were ''close to each other''.

Describing Mr Mahajan as a ''skillful debater, fine personality and committed to the cause he believed to be right'', Mr Dasgupta said ''his death is tragic,untimely and bound to cause deep sorrow in the minds of all those knew him''.

He offered his condolences to the members of the bereaved family and ''the party he belonged to''.

Mahajan's death had created a ''huge void in the national political arena'', state BJP President Tathagata Roy and General Secretary Rahul Sinha said, adding the party's loss would be very difficult to fulfil.

A separate condolence message was also sent to the members of the bereaved family.
