Ahmedabad, May 03 (UNI) Rich tributes were paid to the late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan by Governor Nawal Kishore Sharma and Chief Minister Narendra Modi, besides a number of State leaders cutting across party lines.
Recalling personal reminiscences of the promising leader, Mr Sharma expressed his deep sorrow and described Mr Mahajan as a ''new hope for Indian polity, who combined rare qualities of politeness, cheerful disposition and friendly attitude towards all.'' Former Chief Minister and BJP MP Keshubhai Patel recalled Mr Mahajan's contribution in the growth of the party, describing him as a multi-faceted personality, a patriotic leader, endowed with a talent to solve most ticklish issues.
Presiding over a condolence meeting of the party's State unit here, general secretary in-charge of Gujarat Om Prakash Mathur said Mr Mahajan was a bright star on the political scene of the country BJP State unit president Vajubhai Vala said that in the death of Mr Mahajan the party as well as the nation has lost a hope.
Leader of the Opposition in Assembly Arjun Modhvadia described Mr Mahajan as a bright star and one of the brightest leaders of 21st century, who brought new ideas and fresh air to the Indian polity.
Even his political opponents found him likeable.
