Govt declares ceasefire, withdraws red corner notice
Kathmandu, May 3 (UNI) The Nepalese Government today announced a ceasefire with the Maoists and said it would withdraw 'red corner' notices and the 'terrorist tag' against them.
The meeting of the newly constituted coalition government headed by veteran leader Girija Prasad Koirala, also urged the insurgents to come forward for negotiations.
The Government also decided to annul the recently concluded Municipal Elections, and also cancelled the appointment of regional and zonal administrators appointed by the previous government.
Last week, the Maoists had also announced a three-month unilateral ceasefire as the reinstated Parliament met to fulfil the provisions of its 'roadmap' for full-fledged democracy in the country including institution of a constituent assembly.
