Bomb scare in blast hit Varanasi

Varanasi, May 3 (UNI) The twin blasts-hit Varanasi today witnessed panicky scenes following a bomb scare in the posh Parvati Puri Colony.

Police said here a personnel of the 'Leopard Team' of City Police was informed this afternoon of a bomb in Luxa area.

Top police and district officials alongwith bomb disposal squad reached the spot and carried out an exhaustive search, following which an unclaimed packet was found.

An electric condenser was found in it wrapped in a cloth to give the look of a bomb.

Investigations were on.

The holy city was rocked by twin blasts at the Sankatmochan temple and Varanasi Cantonment Railway station within a span of 15 minutes on March 7, resulting in the loss of 17 lives and wounds to scores others.
