Blast occur in Mumbai, one found dead

Mumbai, May 2 (UNI) A man was found dead after a blast occurred due to some explosives in the eastern suburb of Ghatkoper this afternoon, according to Joint Commissioner of Police Aroop Patnaik.

Talking to reporters here late evening, he said at around 1330 hrs, the Ghatkoper police and fire brigade received an anonymous call saying a cylinder blast had occurred in Room no five of Sarang Chawl on Golibar Road.

When the police and firemen reached the spot, they found the room was locked from outside. They broke open the door and found a man lying dead, whose identity is yet to be established, Patnaik said.

They called the gas company officials who refuted the claim that it was a blast due to cylinder burst.

Then, the police summoned the Bomb Disposal Squad and Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS), who after examining the spot concluded that it was the blast due to some explosives. However, it is yet to be ascertained what caused the blast, he added.

Ghatkoper police station sources said that the room belongs to one Charu Pujari who had rented it to Radheshyam Saroda about 15 days ago, who was living along with some people. Further investigations are on, sources added.
