Army jawan found murdered in train

Mangalore, May 3 (UNI) An army jawan, hailing from Tamil Nadu, was found brutally murdered in the general compartment of the Mangala Express at Thokur, near Surathkal, about 20 km from here.

Superintendent of Police B Dayanand told newspersons here that the deceased was identified as Simpson.

He said Simpson, along with his colleague Balasubramanyam, had boarded the train at Goa. As the compartment was full, both had been travelling standing near the door.

During interrogation Balasubramanyam revealed that Simpson had asked for a glass of water when the train neared Thokur around midnight. When he came back with the water, he found Simpson dead, lying in a pool of blood with grievous head injury.

The case was being investigated by the Udupi Konkan railway police.
