ADB to establish 'e-Asia'
Hyderabad, May 3 (UNI) The Asian Develpment Bank (ADB) Vice President, Knowledge Management and Sustainable Development Geert Van Der Linden today said the bank would be establishing 'e-Asia' and 'Knowledge Partnership Fund' to support ADB's work in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and knowledge sharing.
Participating in a seminar on 'knowledge based economies in the 21st century' organised as part of 39th ADB meeting here, Mr Linden said the ADB has signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Republic of Korea to establish the 'e-Asia'.
He said the knowledge partnership fund would create a road map to raise awareness on the importance of knowledge, technology and ICT in particular as a vehicle for stimulating and fostering development through capacity building.
Stating that the activities like e-government, e-learning, e-trade and e-environment would also be included under the e-Asia and partnership fund, Mr Linden said these kind of initiatives would reduce digital devide between the Asian countries in near future.
